“Wishing will not bring riches. But desiring riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then planning definite ways and means to acquire riches, and backing those plans with persistence which does not recognize failure, will bring riches” Napoleon Hill 1937.
She was 32 years old when husband was killed by a snake bite. They had eight children, of which six were boys. She barely had a family. Her mother had died years earlier and her father remarried, sent her to marry a much older man at the age of 14 years old. She never dared to dream beyond her tiny village, but she had a burning desire to learn more than she was able to know. My grandma had never been to school, not even a nursery. So she became obsessed with the education of her children. She breathed and spoke only of their success in the world. Even when my mother gave birth to me at a tender age of 17 years old, grandma took me in and made me hers in the hope that her daughter will be free to pursuit her education and find her own happiness.
She had no written plans, but she had a vision, a vision so clear that it became reality to her and to her children….to me. Driven by her desire and faith grandma was able to go to the unknown world, which we call heaven, knowing her children had received university education, married the people they chose for themselves. She made her desire their desire. She did all she could to see them through, made sacrifice such as, sending her beloved kids to live in different parts of the country with people she believed were going to guide them.
Anyway, I could never talk enough about my grandmother so let’s get to the point.
The point is this. There is power in the mind, and the mind is power. That’s why we don’t let our kids watch certain things on TV, why we read certain books, why we attend motivational events, why we want to be around positive people, why its so important for the government to feed us lies on a daily basis (let’s leave that for another day).
This year I am challenging myself to think positive and I hope you do too. I have created myself a BURNING DESIRE, I have written a plan to achieve it and I actively seek to surround myself with like-minded people. I don’t only want to be exercising my muscle I want to exercise my mind. If you are able to develop a burning desire, so much that you see yourself in that “winning” position, then I doubt there is anything to stop you (but yourself).
I challenge you to figure out what you want to be in 5, 10, 20 years. Create a plan to get there and START NOW. I challenge you to believe in yourself, to be determined, to think positive, to be focused, to make sacrifices and to succeed.
My journey has started, I have burned all the bridges (failure, self doubt, marry a rich guy so I don’t have to work, other options but success). I wish you the best. “YOU ARE THE MASTER OF YOUR FATE, THE CAPTAIN OF YOUR SOUL”
